The Boyfriend Project by Farrah Rochon

What happens when 3 smart girls get screwed over by one guy? They get together and form The Boyfriend Project. I loved this book! I was pretty sure I was going to enjoy it after reading the rave reviews, I just didn't realize how much. It was so much more than a rom-com. There was some depth and a little mystery thrown in there too.

Samiah has it going on...she has a great job...a great job...oh yes and a great job. That is her life. She doesn't have time for friends and dudes. Yet she falls for Craig...and then she figures out the hard way why she doesn't have time for dudes. So she enters a pack with Craig's other girlfriends...London and Taylor. Theses girls are smart, witty and wild. #squadgoals and these girls have made a pact. No guys for six months........no problem! Samiah is over dudes...until Daniel walks in. He is kind, smart, successful and GORGEOUS.....Houston we may have a problem...HAHAHA will Samiah break the pact?

I loved all the characters in this book! Well except for Craig...he was a loser for sure. If you want something light, fun, but a rom-com with something more to it...this is it!!

Thank you so much to Grand Central Publishing for sending this ARC my way in exchange for an honest review. LOVED IT!

Don't Turn Around by Jessica Barry

Two women riding in an old jeep across 322  miles of road. Nobody in sight. Suddenly they see headlights...getting closer and closer. He is going to stop right? Nope, they feel the impact as he attempts to drive them off the road. Holy flipping crap!!!  Like helloo...is this like your worst nightmare or what? It was so atmospheric...I felt like I was in the Jeep with them. Why is this dude so angry? Who is doing this?

So back up...Cait and Rebecca take a road trip- in the middle of the night across the New Mexico desert. Both are terrified even before they meet up with this psycho driver. Weird thing is these two woman have never met before tonight. They both have secrets. They both have enemies, that may want them dead. So who is trying to make it happen? AHHH that is the question.

So this book creeped me out. The author did a fantastic job of making you think you were at the creepy truck stops, the dingy little road side restaurant and traveling down the deserted road late at night. I could see and feel it...can't you? I literally felt chills go down my spine. Then about 100 pages from the end- the entire book changed. We went from creepy thriller to more of a drama. A drama that wrapped up rather quickly and took a turn from thriller street to controversial issues. The ending caught me off guard as I was hoping to keep going down the thriller road. I will leave it at that as not to spoil it for you! I did enjoy this crazy, creepy ride from hell!

Thank you so very much to HarperCollins for this gorgeous finished copy in exchange for an honest review! You guys rock!

Catherine House by Elisabeth Thomas

Catherine House......the place you finally belong...the place you want to stay...the place you want to leave...the place  you love...the place you hate... Holy mixed reviews on this one! I truly enjoyed this slow burn. This book is not a cookie cutter book, it is a completely unique story. You have to have an open mind and you have to pay attention and dig deep. Suspend some belief- it gave me a bit of a Ninth House vibe. With that being said, it will not be for everyone, but it sure was a good fit for me. I am debating between 4 and 4.5 stars on this one.

SO here is the deal......Catherine House- very competitive, prestigious school with a secretive past. What actually goes on behind these walls? The deal  you make with the devil- oh I mean Catherine House- is all tuition is paid. You live completely free of all costs while attending school. Food, clothing, books and all the alcohol you can want are paid for. In exchange you walk away from your old life. No contact with the outside world for three long years. This is so you can "focus" on your studies, or so they say.

Everyone entering the halls of Catherine House have been carefully selected and they all have a past. They have had trouble "fitting in" with society. Yet at Catherine House you are the perfect fit. Too bad you can't stay forever.........or can you? One way or another you may never leave......

Much of the first part of the book is built around the development of the characters, especially Ines and Theo. You get a good feel for their daily life at school and how things roll at Catherine House. It was more of a drama at the beginning with an underlying feeling that "something just isn't right" at this school. As the story builds you learn there are some weird things going on that only certain people are privy to. About 100 pages out it really picked up and things started to make more sense. Usually I like a more clear cut ending but I was totally satisfied with how it ended. The author provided just enough insight that I was able to come to my own conclusions.

I always love reading the work of a debut writer and I thought the writer was superb and she left me wondering what she will come up with next. As I stated this will not appeal to everyone but I loved it. Just keep an open mind and let the author paint the picture of what life at Catherine House is like.

Huge shoutout to Custom House/William Morrow for this gorgeous physical copy in exchange for an honest review!

My Thoughts

So that was..........fantastic!!! Yes, Kimberly Belle managed to pull it off again. I literally couldn't put this book down. I flew through this in just one day.

Charlotte or Charlie- depending on who you ask...has found the man of her dreams. A small town girl that was raised by a drug addict in a trailer park that was under deplorable conditions- marries the town millionaire....hmm this is going to be interesting.

When Charlotte marries Paul.... well people are going to talk. Gold digger anyone?? You be the judge..but the town has branded her as a gold digger as well Paul's wonderful mother. I mean couldn't it just be love? Paul is not only a millionaire, he is "the man" of the tiny town. Everyone knows Keller Architecture and everyone knows of Paul. See Paul lost his wife to a drowning accident, even though she was an excellent swimmer. She was also more loaded than Paul. Soooo you do the math.

I loved this book! It was mysterious from start to finish. I didn't know if I should love Charlotte or hate her. Am I #teamcharlotte? Read for yourself and I think you will figure it out. I especially loved the whole secluded lake environment. It gave the story a creepy vibe. The Kellers had a gorgeous home that Paul had designed, with huge windows that faced the lake. Which was fantastic during the day, but at night...well night is a different story. The windows are so huge they don't have window dressings, what is the need anyway, they have no immediate neighbors. Yet as a murder happens right in front of their windows, unbeknownst to them...well it got a bit creepy. Who is out there and who is looking in?  I am getting goosebumps thinking about it!

One dead body in the lake, well ok...two dead bodies in the lake...umm ok...three dead...Houston we have a problem! Mysterious, creepy, page-turner! This book had it all for me. Add it to the list of all the other books I love by this author!

Loved it ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️  5 big hearts for this one!!!!!
