My Thoughts

OMG guys!!! I have read some really great books this year. The thrillers are off the chain… but this baby is at the very top of my list of favorites of the year so far!!! It may even be my favorite..🤔

Why you ask? Well a big reason would be Lucas.. I LOVED to hate him!! He is my very favorite type of character! 😍 Snarky inner voice ✅ Gets me every..single..time…😬… pompous ✅ Clever✅ Murderer✅ Oh wait… Murderer? Hmm … well technically he hired someone to do his work.. or did he??🤔🙄🤷‍♀️🤐

This book honestly had my adrenaline running… especially those last couple of chapters.. that ending…. was….phenomenal 😳😳😳… I closed the book and I was… freaked out! Soooo creepy!! 👏

Hannah Mary McKinnon is a new to me author but she has quickly made it to my must read list! ❤️I have read 3 of her books this year and have Sister Dear on it’s way to me as we speak. I have loved all three but this one.. blew me away! 😍😳🤯A perfect thriller!! ❤️

About the author:

I was born in the UK and grew up in Switzerland. Unsurprisingly I love chocolate, mountains and cheese, and books, of course.

When I moved to Canada with my husband and three sons in 2010 I went through an (early) mid-life crisis. Maybe it was the failed attempt at a start-up company, but one morning I decided to follow my oldest passion; writing - and never looked back.

My first novel, TIME AFTER TIME, a light-hearted romantic read, was published by HarperCollins AVON in 2016. I subsequently moved over to the dark side. THE NEIGHBORS, a domestic suspense story, was published by MIRA in 2018 followed by bestsellers HER SECRET SON, SISTER DEAR (also published in the UK, Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa), and YOU WILL REMEMBER ME, which was on the bestseller lists for 8 weeks.

NEVER COMING HOME features Lucas, my most wicked and funniest character, releases on May 24, 2022. I'm now working on books 7, 8, and 9 for 2023 and 2024, which include the holiday rom com THE CHRISTMAS WAGER (working title) under the pseudonym Holly Cassidy.

My Thoughts

Katie and Molly are twins 👯‍♀️…so they must be just alike.. right?! Umm wrong…they are so completely different!

Molly is super quirky… and I do mean quirky.. planning for everything.. walking a straight line… not into anything remotely risky or adventurous.. worry controls her life.😬

Katie is popular, spontaneous, the life of the party..sometimes Molly resents her a bit for this.🥳🥂🥃🍺🍹

When Katie goes to the Big Apple 🍎 to college and leaves Molly home in London… Molly is devastated. However nothing prepares her for the phone call… that her sister has been murdered..😳 Buckle up for a wild ride…. this story has just begun!

Wow! This was dark, twisted and original! The first twist hit … and I almost missed it.. because I was like wait.. noooo .. wait.. yes that did just happen ..it was kind of like I thought I heard wrong…. Yet I was reading it! 🙄😂🤷‍♀️

Then the plot just got more twisted. This was a definite page turner that I blew through because I just couldn’t put it down.

As it unraveled before my eyes I was completely shocked at the direction it took! Will Dean is a "new to me" author and I can't wait to read his backlist.

Now apparently I need to get The Last Thing to Burn!!🔥 Huge shoutout to Emily Bestler Books for my gorgeous gifted copy!

My Thoughts

I loved this book! This book gave me all the feels! Do you ever have a book that you have to put down because...well you know...life...but all you can think about is picking it back up. This was that book for me! I kept thinking...hmm I wonder what Laine is up to now?

Laine left NYC to move to Michigan to start a family- with her husband Josh and her dog Belle. Yet Josh ALWAYS had an excuse...and Laine's not getting any younger...

As if there wasn't enough going on in her marriage...her sisters urger her to rush back to NYC...because their mom Sally...is acting strange...

I absolutely feel in love with Sally! That we got to see her POV was touching...heartwarming and sometimes funny. The family dynamics were fantastic! Let's not forget Sally had some secrets of her own!!! well I didn't expect that!

Okay so as you can tell I loved this book! I think the thing I loved the most was how real it is. This is life...right here. The ups....the downs..how things don't go as planned. It's not often that you can say that a book is exactly true to life- you can with this book. It made me love the characters even more. I wanted to hug Laine and tell her...girl it's going to be okay....but would it?
