Sister Stardust by Jane Green

Release Date: April 5, 2022

About The Book:

Claire grew up in a small town, far from the glitz and glamour of London. Ridiculed by her stepmother, Linda, and harboring a painful crush on her brother's best friend, she has begun to outgrow the life laid out before her. On the cusp of adulthood in the late 1960s, Claire yearns for the adventure and independence of a counterculture taking root across the world.

One day a chance encounter leads to an unexpected opportunity. Whispers of a palace in Morocco. A getaway where famous artists, models, fashion designers and musicians—even the Rolling Stones—have been known to visit.

When Claire arrives in Marrakesh, she's swept up in a heady world of music, drugs 2and communal living. But one magnetic young woman seems to hold sway over the entire scene. Talitha Getty, socialite wife of a famous oil heir, has pulled everyone from Yves Saint Laurent to Marianne Faithfull into her orbit. Yet when she meets Claire, the pair instantly connect. As they grow closer, and the inner circle tightens, the realities of Talitha's precarious life set off a chain of dangerous events that could alter Claire's life forever.

MY THOUGHTS

I have been a huge fan of her books for years…so I am so excited to be on the book tour for Sister Stardust. Thank you soo much to @hanoversquarepress @janegreenauthor @harpercollins for this gorgeous gifted copy! ❤️

Jane Green has been my go-to author for more years than I can count! She has seen me through the highs and lows…Jane’s books were there to comfort me…❤️ I can just get wrapped up and lost in them. I must say.. she knocked it clear out of the park with this one! 😍 5 shiny stars ⭐️

With Sister Stardust I was swept away to a glamorous life in a palace in Morocco. Drug fueled nights and days… partying and living with some of the most famous people of the 1960’s. πŸ₯‚

My favorite part of this book is that we get to see this all from the POV of Ceecee. Just a sweet young girl that finds herself swept up in Talitha Getty’s world. Married to an oil heir.. Talitha has a magnetic energy…she was gorgeous.. talented..alluring..and she could throw one heck of a party.. πŸ₯ƒπŸΈπŸ₯‚πŸΎEven the Rolling Stones were known to frequent the palace. 🀭

I absolutely loved how Claire started out and ended this story for her daughter! As Claire took a stroll down memory lane we got a look into the life of the 1960’s… as this is based on a true person… you must check out @sisterstardustt Instagram page! The photos Jane has collected of Talitha Getty are amazing…I stalk it on a regular basis. 🀫🀫🀫

Thank you so much Jane for letting us all into Talitha’s life. It was fun, intriguing and terrifying at times as Talitha pushed the drugs, sex and rock n roll to the limits.. and beyond.❤️

Obviously I loved this book!! What is your favorite @janegreenauthor book? Have you read this one?

❤️ If you could hang out with someone from the 60’s who would it be? I love the whole mini skirt and boots πŸ‘’ look. I think I would have been loving the 60’s lifestyle… unfortunately that was well before my time.

Pub date was April 5th!! πŸƒ‍♀️ Get your copy!!

Dead Wind by Tessa Wegert

Release Date: March 1, 2022 (ebook) April 5th (hardcover)

About The Book:

The body is discovered on Wolfe Island, under the shadow of an enormous wind turbine. Senior Investigator Shana Merchant, arriving on the scene with fellow investigator Tim Wellington, can't shake the feeling that she knows the victim - and the subsequent identification sends shockwaves through their community in the Thousand Islands of Upstate New York.

Politics, power, passion . . . there are dark undercurrents in Shana's new home, and finding the killer means dredging up her new friends and neighbors' old grudges and long-kept secrets.

That is, if the killer is from the community at all. For Shana's keeping a terrible secret of her own: eighteen months ago she escaped from serial killer Blake Bram's clutches. But has he followed her . . . to kill again?

My Thoughts

I love this series sooo much!! ❤️Guys...seriously if you have not read this series...you need to!

This weekend is full of some of my favorite things:
My favorite book series...

Swiss rolls...nope! That would actually be Shana's favorite..or so the killer would think....if you have read it......you know!

Raise your hand if you are a Shana fan! I think she has alot of fans...even some she could do without ...is Bram back? You be the judge...there is something weird going on...or is Shana just paranoid...you know I guess escaping from a serial killer...may just do that to you...right?!

The ending blew me away...sooo many shocking things..I seriously can't wait to see what happens next in this series! More Shana please! So excited that the author has confirmed that there is more to come! This makes me one happy girl!

Huge shoutout to Suzy Approved Tours, Tessa Wegert and Severn books for my gifted copy of my favorite series!

The Tabacco Wives by Adele Myers

SYNOPSIS:

North Carolina, 1946. One woman. A discovery that could rewrite history.

Maddie Sykes is a burgeoning seamstress who’s just arrived in Bright Leaf, North Carolina—the tobacco capital of the South—where her aunt has a thriving sewing business. After years of war rations and shortages, Bright Leaf is a prosperous wonderland in full technicolor bloom, and Maddie is dazzled by the bustle of the crisply uniformed female factory workers, the palatial homes, and, most of all, her aunt’s glossiest clientele: the wives of the powerful tobacco executives.

But she soon learns that Bright Leaf isn’t quite the carefree paradise that it seems. A trail of misfortune follows many of the women, including substantial health problems, and although Maddie is quick to believe that this is a coincidence, she inadvertently uncovers evidence that suggests otherwise.

Maddie wants to report what she knows, but in a town where everyone depends on Big Tobacco to survive, she doesn’t know who she can trust—and fears that exposing the truth may destroy the lives of the proud, strong women with whom she has forged strong bonds.

Shedding light on the hidden history of women’s activism during the post-war period, at its heart, The Tobacco Wives is a deeply human, emotionally satisfying, and dramatic novel about the power of female connection and the importance of seeking truth.

MY  THOUGHTS

This book was so good! I have been wanting to read this book from the first time I heard about it.... The premise, the cover, the writing....all amazing...what a fantastic debut. I can't thank my partners Bibliolifestyle and William Morrow books enough for having me on this book tour!

The south in the 1940's...I never imagined how big of a role the Tabacco Industry played. It was almost as if the owners were royalty. I could picture the glamourous woman in their fancy dresses...smoking their cigarettes. Everything....and I do mean everything...revolved around...cigarettes- jobs, social events...even motherhood...that's right ladies...light up to calm your nerves a bit while you are pregnant.

What I loved most about this book is that it really made me think about " how far we have come baby." You will only get that line if you are of a certain generation. Remember- Joe the Camel? How about asking to sit in the smoking or non smoking section at a restaurant? Wow we have come a long way.

So this book really begs to question- when exactly did Big Tabacco realize the dangers of smoking? Tabacco being such a big part of their lives in NC that literally everyone had a tie with it. It was so interesting and eye opening to learn more about this time in history.

I loved Maddie's story and I really enjoyed how it wrapped up. Intriguing, entertaining and an absolutely wonderful debut.

Adele Myers grew up in Asheville, North Carolina, and has a journalism degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She currently works in advertising and lives in Brooklyn, New York, with her husband, son, and their rescue dog Chipper. The Tobacco Wives is her first novel.
