The Night Before by Wendy Walker

Laura Lochner moves back to town after a devastating break up with her boyfriend. This is one of many failed relationships for Laura. Moving back to Deer Hill Lane stirs up plenty of emotions in Laura. You see, her boyfriend Mitch was murdered there and she was at the scene.

Laura moves in with her sister Rose and her husband Joe. They have the perfect marriage, or do they? It seems like Laura and Joe are pretty tight. Staying up late into the night after Rose goes to bed. Friends since childhood, is Joe just being a shoulder to cry on?

Laura signs up for a dating service findlove.com. She meets up one night with a charming older guy Jonathan Fields. Laura seems to be drawn into self destructive relationships that never work out. Is that why she is attracted to Jonathan? Is it because his story seems riddled with untruths?

Laura never comes home from the date....the end...just kidding but that is the end of my summary. You will have to read the rest for yourself!

I read this book with a group of my Traveling Sisters. The general consensus was that we loved it! I have never read a Wendy Walker book before and I loved her writing style. I flew through this book in less than a day. The unique and interesting thing about this book is the way the author leads you on. I literally had no clue as to how this would pan out. All my predictions at the half way point of this book were 100% wrong! If you want a book that will hold your interest, make you change your mind half a dozen times and still be wrong- this is the book for you!

Thank you so much to Wendy Walker, St. Martin's Press and Netgalley for this fantastic ARC.

Sneak Peak Sunday- The Dead Ex by Jane Corry

Thanks for joining me for Sneak Peak Sunday! This is a chance for me to give you a peak into what upcoming reads myself and my Traveling Sisters are really excited about. My WhatsApp was on fire when the first Traveling Sister got their hands on this must read book, the news spread like wildfire!

I have to admit I have been green with envy the last couple of months as everyone in the UK has had a chance to read this book. The Dead Ex is not slated to be published in the United States and Canada until Jane 29, 2019! So I can't even tell you how excited I am to be reading this with my fellow Traveling Sisters- Brenda and Norma with Two Sisters Lost in a Coulee and Christina with Recipe and a Read.

Jane Corry is a must read author for me. Every book so far has been an 5 star read for me, so I am so excited to finally get my hands on her new one! If you get a chance pop on over to my fellow Traveling Sisters and get a sneak peak into what other books we are excited about. If this isn't already on your TBR list I bet it will be after reading this Goodreads summary! Have you read The Dead Ex? What were your thoughts?

Goodreads Summary

One man's disappearance throws four women's lives into chaos--and not all will survive. . .

Vicki works as an aromatherapist, healing her clients out of her home studio with her special blends of essential oils. She's just finishing a session when the police arrive on her doorstep--her ex-husband David has gone missing. Vicki insists she last saw him years ago when they divorced, but the police clearly don't believe her. And her memory's hardly reliable--what if she did have something to do with it?

Meanwhile, Scarlet and her mother Zelda are down on their luck, and at eight years old, Scarlet's not old enough to know that the "game" her mother forces her to play is really just a twisted name for dealing drugs. Soon, Zelda is caught, and Scarlet is forced into years of foster care--an experience that will shape the rest of her life . . .

David's new wife, Tanya, is the one who reported him missing, but what really happened on the night of David's disappearance? And how can Vicki prove her innocence, when she's not even sure of it herself? The answer lies in the connection among these four women--and the one person they can't escape.

Can't Wait Wednesday

Thanks so much for joining me for Can't Wait Wednesday. This is a chance to tell you what books I am really excited about reading and get you excited about them too! It is a weekly meme hosted by Wishful Endings, which is based on Waiting on Wednesday hosted by Jill at Breaking The Spine.

I have to admit I literally jumped up and down when I got this advanced copy of The Mother-In-Law by Sally Hepworth.  It is so fitting to feature this on Can't Wait Wednesday because the suspense is killing me. I have to see what this is about. Let's talk about this cover! I love beautiful covers and this one is to die for.

I am even more excited that I will be taking this journey with some Traveling Sisters. Norma and Brenda from Two Sisters Lost in a Coulee and Christina from Recipe and a Read. I can't wait to see what these girls have to say about this one. I am so glad I am reading along with them or I would have a serious case of FOMO (Fear of Missing Out) with this one! Check out this blurb from Goodreads and then tell me if you don't feel the same way. Is this on your list to be read too?

Goodreads Summary

From the moment Lucy met her husband's mother, Diana, she was kept at arm's length. Diana was exquisitely polite, and properly friendly, but Lucy knew that she was not what Diana envisioned. But who could fault Diana? She was a pillar of the community, an advocate for social justice who helped female refugees assimilate to their new country. Diana was happily married to Tom, and lived in wedded bliss for decades. Lucy wanted so much to please her new mother-in-law.

That was five years ago.

Now, Diana has been found dead, a suicide note near her body. Diana claims that she no longer wanted to live because of a battle with cancer.

But the autopsy finds no cancer.
The autopsy does find traces of poison and suffocation.
Who could possibly want Diana dead?
Why was her will changed at the eleventh hour to disinherit both of her adult children and their spouses?

With Lucy's secrets getting deeper and her relationship with her mother-in-law growing more complex as the pages turn, this new novel from Sally Hepworth is sure to add to her growing legion of fans.

In Her Shadow by Mark Edwards

Jessica Gardner lost her sister Isabel (Izzy) five years ago to a bizarre freak accident. Since that time she has immersed herself in motherhood doting on her two children Felix and Olivia. The children don't know much about aunt Izzy as they have been spared the details of her death. Felix was rather young at the time and Olivia was not even born yet.

Suddenly Izzy becomes a daily topic of conversation for four year old Olivia. Jessica is bewildered as to how Olivia seems to know details of Izzy's life. Unsettling details of an aunt that she never knew. The thing is nobody has told Olivia about these things and they are extremely accurate. So you can imagine Jessica's further shock when Olivia implies that aunt Izzy was murdered. Is her daughter actually communicating with her dead sister? How else could she knows these things? If she is and it is true that she was murdered, that means the culprit is still on the loose.

Jessica finds herself searching for the truth about her sister and what is going on with her daughter. She begins to question the motives of everyone in her inner circle, trying to unravel the details of that fateful night her sister lost her life.

I have been hearing so much about Mark Edwards and how fantastic his books are. A truly suspenseful read that kept me wondering what the heck happened to Izzy. I began to wonder if Olivia really did have the power to talk to her aunt. I found myself on edge wondering what Olivia was going to reveal to us next. Would she lead us to the killer? Or was this simply a case of a child repeating things they have heard. Hmmm I going to say no on that. See what you think!

Thank you so much to Mark Edwards, Thomas & Mercer and NetGalley for this ARC.
