White Ivy by Susie Yang

Wow!!! There is nothing better than going into a debut and having it blow you away. ❤️ This seems to be the year of fantastic debuts and you just need to add this one to the list. This book is a slow burn that is so eloquently done that I could not look away. I could not put this down, it had an almost magnetizing element to it. Susie Yang has arrived my friends!

Ivy Lin is a girl that pulled me in a million directions. On one hand I wanted to feel sympathetic towards her. Her family immigrated to America where she lived in a low income complex, her family struggling to make ends meet. As if Ivy didn't have enough personal turmoil trying to fit in, her family sent her off to a exclusive school- Grove Prep Academy. It is here that Ivy gets a taste of the good life and decides it will be hers no matter what the cost.

For some reason Ivy has that "something" about her that just draw people to her. They would see the good in her, yet she was filled with dark, disturbing thoughts. Her moral lines were not drawn in the sand, they seemed to move about whenever she needed something. Yet still...everyone seems to love Ivy. She is a master manipulator and knows her game well. She makes people want to do things for her.

As she struggles to make it to the top, stepping on people from her past, just how far will she go? The ending was one that I never saw coming! I loved it!

Huge shoutout to Simon & Schuster for sending this gifted physical copy my way in exchange for an honest review.

Girls of Brackenhill by Kate Moretti

A book that starts out saying..." I didn't mean to kill her" is defiantly going to get my attention and get it fast! I was instantly drawn into this dual timeline with that single sentence.

Brackenhill is an estate in the Catskills with 33 rooms. Sounds delightful doesn't it? It was delightful for two young girls that spent their summers there with their aunt and uncle. It was fun and glamorous...until it wasn't. Until one of the girls disappears......

Hannah swore she wouldn't step foot in Brackenhill again..yet she is forced to when her aunt dies suddenly and her uncle is on his deathbed. The house that holds secrets..the house that Hannah has terrible dreams about...the house that makes her sleepwalk...the house...Brackenhill...

Although it was a slow burn for me it did work. I enjoyed all the mystery surrounding the estate. I liked the use of the dual timelines. I thought the ending was very clever and I like the idea it implied of what was to come...

Thank you so much to Thomas and Mercer for my gifted copy in exchange for an honest review.

Don't Look For Me by Wendy Walker

Molly Clarke killed her daughter...or did she?
Molly Clarke's husband is cheating on her...or is he?
Molly Clarke's children despise her...or do they?
Molly Clarke decided to step away from her life...or did she?

Sooo many questions!! This book took off from the very first page! It got very intense and creepy right away. My heart broke for Molly so many times as she blamed herself for everything. While trying to beat the hurricane she is driving through the downpour, wind and rain whipping around..on a deserted road...in a rundown little town....she runs out of gas.....

OMG..this town gave me the creeps. Just the overall vibe of the rundown town with the little gas station, motel and bar. Molly knew she should avoid the town, she knew nothing good would come out of it. Yet, there she was driving through the town, all alone......

I would love to say I would never put myself in Molly's place but I think we all do at some point. Not making the best decisions, derailed by things that are playing heavily on our mind. Yet, what did Molly do? Did she decide she was just going to walk away?

I literally flew through this book and I highly recommend it!

Huge thanks to Jordy for this physical ARC that he sent my way from his giveaway! Thank you to St. Martin's press for the gifted copy via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

No One's Home by D.M. Pulley

The perfect Fall read! Soooo creepy! This book was creeptastic from the very first page to the last. I really like nothing better than a story about an old, creepy house. So I was instantly drawn into this the second I started it.

Your realtor takes you into a home...it has lovely things written on the walls like Murder House, Dead Girl...you get the picture...drug paraphernalia spread about. Sure we will take it since the price is right. Whatttt? That is exactly what The Spielman's did.

Things start going bump in the night, weird images showing up on their cameras. Yeah..nope! As they unearth the house's extensive history it became even more intriguing. The house had a history of three different families throughout the decades. Oh what a history it was.

This seriously gave me the "look over my shoulder" uneasy feel as I read it. What even made it better was the author's note at the back of the book. Don't peek!! This was a fantastic way to kick off my fall creepy reads. What took me so long to read this?! This book seriously got lost in the shuffle and I regret not reading it sooner!
