A fun fact about the author's Christmas traditions:
The ceramic town we painted. As a child living in a small
snow town, Christmas was a big deal. We excelled in anything snow. Skiing,
skating, and Christmas. Our neighbor hoods were full of snow and decorations
right after Halloween and one of the things we all loved to do was go to the
neighborhood ceramic shop to paint figures. My mother and sister and I decided
to paint an entire Christmas village, which we ended up taking home and
lighting up with twinkly lights so that it ran the span of the living room. We
still have it and it’s still beautiful and I look forward to seeing it lit up
every year.
